St. Charles County is seeking qualified candidates for a police department management position.

The role will be assigned to one of four bureaus: Administrative Services, Field Operations, Operational Support, or Criminal Investigation. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field, Missouri POST certification, a valid driver’s license, ten years in law enforcement with two years of supervisory experience, and successful background check.

BUREAU OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES: The purpose of this position is to plan, manage, and direct department support operations, including community education, records, evidence, property control, fleet management, purchasing, personnel, fiscal manager, payroll, and facilities. Assists and collaborates with the Chief of Police and other department Captains regarding overall general management issues. The work is performed under the direction of the Chief of Police.

BUREAU OF FIELD OPERATIONS: The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, and oversee the Police Department's field operations division. Assists and collaborates with the Chief of Police and other department Captains regarding overall general management issues. The work is performed under the direction of the Chief of Police.

BUREAU OF OPERATIONAL SUPPORT: The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, and oversee Police Department special operations, including air unit, fugitive unit, SWAT, bomb unit, firearms training range, and police training. Assists and collaborates with the Chief of Police and other department Captains regarding overall general management issues. The work is performed under the direction of the Chief of Police.

BUREAU OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION: The purpose of this position is to plan, manage, and direct department BCI operations, including staff in the following functional areas: Criminal Investigations, crime scene investigations, crime lab, Drug Task Force, cybercrime, crimes against persons and property, and Fusion Center. Assists and collaborates with the Chief of Police and other department Captains regarding overall general management issues. The work is performed under the direction of the Chief of Police.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Certifications
  • Missouri POST certification
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator license.
• Job Experience
  • Ten years of Law Enforcement experience, two years of supervisory experience.
• Employment will be contingent on successfully passing a criminal background check.

Examination Components

• The examination process consists of a Structured Panel Oral Interview, a Structured Chief’s Interview, and a File Review.
• Applicants must meet all qualifications in order to move forward to the Panel Oral Interview, Chief’s Interview, and File Review.

Structured Oral Interview

• Structured Oral Interviews will be scheduled for Thursday, December 3rd, 2026.
• Chief’s Interviews will be scheduled for Thursday, December 10th, 2026.

These will both take place at the St. Charles County Police Department, 101 Sheriff Dierker Court, O’Fallon, MO 63366. Applicants will be notified of their scheduled interview appointments.
