Job summary

City of Greenville (SC) is seeking a Police Captain to direct and manage activities of a major division within the Greenville Police Department. You will lead administration, field operations, investigations, or support functions, develop operational plans, allocate resources, and ensure compliance with laws and department policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business, social work, human services, or related field.
• Minimum eleven years of continuous service as a certified police officer with at least two years in rank as Lieutenant or higher.
• Certification as Class 1 officer from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and day-to-day administration and supervision of police activities within the assigned division.
• Direct strategic planning, budgeting, grant research, and CALEA accreditation activities.
• Serve as liaison with residents and other agencies; represent the department on boards and committees.
• Oversee investigations, field operations, administration, and support divisions as assigned.
