San Luis Obispo Police Department is seeking a training-level, non-sworn candidate to attend the POST-approved basic police academy in San Luis Obispo. You will train under direct supervision to gain the skills and physical condition required for police service.

Promotion to sworn Officer depends on academy completion and a final review by the Police Chief. Upon promotion, a one-year probation starts as a regular employee.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum age: 20 at appointment; 20.5 years at academy completion; 21 years at FTO completion.
• Uncorrected vision 20/100; corrected to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in other; color vision normal.

Responsibilities

• Performs non-safety duties.
• Collects information and data.
• Transports people and materials, etc.
• Attends a California POST approved Basic Academy for training.
