Job summary

The City of Round Rock invites applicants to join the Round Rock Police Department Training Academy in Texas, where you will study state laws, police procedures, and the Basic Peace Officer curriculum to qualify for certification. You will undergo rigorous testing, background checks, and physical assessments as part of the selection process.

During the academy you will be paid the academy rate, with a post-completion assignment at $39.78 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following: 30 college credits, two years non-sworn RRPD experience, two years jailer experience, or two years active-duty military service.
• Must be at least 20 years and 6 months old by the start of the academy.
• Must be a United States citizen and able to obtain Basic Peace Officer certification by TCOLE.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Position requires studying State laws, police procedures, and all aspects of law enforcement in preparation for certification.
• Attending the law enforcement training academy daily, passing written tests, and meeting academic requirements to obtain the Basic Peace Officer certificate.
• Assist department personnel in performing a variety of law enforcement and crime prevention tasks.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

30 college credits (from an accredited university)

Two (2) years full-time non-sworn RRPD experience

Two (2) years of full-time basic jailer experience

Two (2) years of active-duty US military service
