The Phoenix Police Department's Transit Unit is seeking qualified candidates for a Police Assistant opportunity. The Police Assistant role primarily supports enforcement activities to ensure the safety and security of transit employees and passengers throughout the City of Phoenix.

Responsibilities Include
  • Responding to calls for service that do not require the presence of a sworn officer and providing investigative support to sworn personnel within the Transit Unit.
  • Supporting special event staffing and evidence collection.
  • Assisting with citation processes related to civil traffic investigations.

Work Hours: This position will be 1st shift 0600-1600 or 2nd shift 1500-0100 working Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday.

Upon initial assignment, there will be a 6-8-week training program and an 8-week academy for new police assistants.

SALARY

Pay Range: $23.06 to $35.78 per hour.

Hiring Range: $23.06 to $28.04 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of public contact or customer assistance experience.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
