Base pay range

$20.00/hr - $23.00/hr

Position Overview: The Pole Reinforcement Crew Member is responsible for performing a variety of physical tasks and providing support as part of the wood pole inspection and reinforcement teams. This role involves participating in skilled work, operating basic machinery and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Physical Tasks:
  • Perform manual labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, digging and moving materials as needed.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials, tools or equipment at job sites or within facilities.
  • Site Preparation and Cleanup:
  • Prepare work areas by setting up barriers, removing debris and organizing materials or tools.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, ensuring they are free of hazards and clutter.
  • Support for Skilled Workers:
  • Assist foremen by performing some skilled tasks.
  • Follow instructions and learn technical skills to aid in specific job requirements.
  • Equipment Operation:
  • Operate basic hand tools, power tools and machinery under supervision and as directed by foreman.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment or tools.
  • Material Handling and Inventory:
  • Assist in handling, organizing and transporting materials within job sites or facilities.
  • Maintain inventory levels by conducting stock checks and reporting shortages or damages.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Follow safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for oneself and others.
  • Report any and all safety hazards, incidents or injuries immediately to foreman.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Communicate effectively with team members, and foreman.
  • Assist in training others to complete tasks efficiently and meet project goals.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in general labor, construction, manufacturing or related field is preferred.
  • Good driving record and ability to obtain DOT driver qualification.
  • Proven ability to perform assigned task at or above expected levels.
  • Trained to perform remedial treatment on utility poles.
  • Demonstrated ability to train others in basic tasks.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks for extended periods, including walking long distances on uneven terrain while carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic understanding of safety and protocols in a work environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new tasks or skills.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork, proficient use of a shovel to excavate.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 75%.

    • Endurance: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods without excessive fatigue.

  • Flexibility and Balance:
    • Flexibility: Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
    • Balance: Maintaining physical stability while performing task, especially on uneven or unstable surfaces.
  • Physical Health:
    • Healthy Back and Joints: Essential due to the repetitive bending, lifting, and carrying.
    • Cardiovascular Health: Good overall physical fitness to handle strenuous activities.
