Job Description

The Encore Boston Harbor Poker Floor Person is responsible for providing front-line guest service in the poker area. This includes serving as a host and cashier for poker guests, assisting guests with various needs, and supporting efforts to promote poker play. The key responsibility is to provide outstanding guest service and contribute to a positive guest experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Adheres to all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards.
  2. Participates in the execution of departmental goals, policies, and procedures; monitors and evaluates effectiveness; implements necessary improvements.
  3. Contributes to departmental performance, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of policies and records.
  4. Enforces applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and property controls.
  5. Delivers and maintains a high level of guest service.
  6. Supports company-wide communication and best practices.
  7. Keeps informed of departmental developments.
  8. Manages multiple priorities and meets deadlines, even under stress.
  9. Greets and welcomes customers entering the Poker area.
  10. Maintains a change bank to assist guests, including making change and expediting transactions.
  11. Promotes guest service by demonstrating knowledge of games, events, promotions, and operations.
  12. Supports surveillance efforts to detect irregularities.
  13. Assists guests with needs related to customer service, beverages, transportation, VIP services, etc.
  14. Follows safety standards and prioritizes safety.
  15. Maintains knowledge of industry through ongoing education and training.
  16. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Age, Gaming, and Certifications: 21+ years old. Must obtain and maintain a Massachusetts Gaming Commission license.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or casino experience preferred. Minimum 2 years experience in a Poker room as a dealer or dual rate. Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office, are a plus. Willing to work beyond typical hours, meet deadlines, and work independently with a positive attitude. Open to learning new processes.

Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and respond to policies and inquiries. Conversational English required. Ability to write instructions and present information effectively.

Mathematical Skills & Reasoning: Ability to perform basic calculations and analyze reports.

Physical Demands: Must talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands frequently. Capable of lifting/maneuvering at least 50 pounds. Visual acuity required for close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise level, increasing to loud on the casino floor.
  • Varying schedules based on business needs; reliable attendance required.
