Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking a Specialist in Poison Information (Pharmacist) to provide toxicology consultation and case management for calls to the Utah Poison Control Center. The role includes precepting PharmD students, teaching didactic sessions, and contributing to outreach and research projects.

Candidates must hold Pharmacist licensure, obtain SPI certification (or have it), and meet Utah licensure timing.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist licensure required and national certification as a Specialist in Poison Information or ability to obtain within 2 exam cycles.
• Utah pharmacist licensure eligibility within 4 months of hire.
• Strong knowledge of human pathophysiology, clinical pharmacology and drug information.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide verbal and written clinical toxicology consultation for emergency and informational calls.
• Document patient information in the medical record system and develop appropriate treatment and triage recommendations.
• Precept PharmD students, residents and fellows; deliver lectures on poisoning topics as needed.
• Participate in outreach, quality assurance and clinical research activities as required.
