Job description

The New York City Poison Control Center (PCC) is an emergency medical hotline that responds to requests for assistance from both the public and healthcare providers regarding intentional and unintentional exposures, as well as information on medication safety (interactions, indications, disposal).

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  1. Responding to emergency calls from the public and healthcare providers.
  2. Triaging calls from the public to appropriate care settings or follow-up.
  3. Providing information and support to healthcare providers as part of the treatment team.
  4. Documenting all cases in real-time in data collection software, complying with NYS and AAPCC requirements.
  5. Utilizing on-site reference resources.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Must be a NYS licensed and registered pharmacist, nurse, physician assistant, or certified nurse practitioner.
  • If holding a BSN, must have at least 1 year of experience in the Emergency Room or ICU.
  • Strong communication skills are required.
  • Second language skills are a plus but not required.
  • Must sit for and maintain AAPCC certification throughout employment.
