Job summary

The Supervisor will supervise Point of Care testing according to regulatory criteria at Montefiore Medical Center. It directs the operations of the Point of Care Testing program for the Montefiore Health System, maintaining and monitoring tests such as glucose, urine analysis, urine pregnancy, occult blood, rapid strep and more.

The position is located in the Point of Care Testing lab at the Moses campus in the Bronx. Hours are Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM with on-call weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Medical Lab Technologist training required.
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
• 4 years of bench experience (or 2 years with a Master's) to qualify as a supervisor.
• Familiarity with Point of Care Testing instrumentation.
• Knowledge of laboratory information systems required.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

Responsibilities

• Set up documentation for point of care testing per NCCLS guidelines.
• Establish licensing criteria and training programs; develop online testing program.
• Track personnel and sites involved in training; schedule annual reviews.
• Travel to sites for training and review of POC records.
• Develop and implement accessioning and QC program for each POC test.
• Monitor monthly compliance for each site; take corrective actions as needed.
• Develop PT programs where none exist; compare POC devices before deployment.
