Job summary

Shriners Children's is seeking a Point of Care Coordinator to optimize testing services, ensuring timely and accurate diagnostic results for patient care. The role supports implementation of new POC procedures and participates in quality assurance programs across the Clinical Lab.

The position requires a bachelor's or associate degree with several years of clinical laboratory experience, and involves interaction with staff, patients, families, and the inter-disciplinary team to ensure effective

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• 4 years clinical laboratory experience.
• Associate's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science with 5 years of work-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the introduction and implementation of new POC procedures and evaluate new POC instruments.
• Contribute to the Clinical Lab Quality Assurance Program, instrument selection, preventive maintenance, safety test procedures and reagent purchases.
• Contribute to writing procedure manuals or other reference materials.
• Interact professionally with staff, patients, families, and visitors.
• Monitor and document laboratory results into the Shrine System.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and function checks for PC equipment.
• Participate in laboratory charge reconciliation.
• Handle registration and scheduling tasks.
• Communicate openly with patients, families and interdisciplinary team members to support effective interventions.
