Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND, seeks a Point of Care Coordinator to support clinical and laboratory teams across hospital locations.

You will oversee daily operation and maintenance of the Point of Care system, manage tickets, verify report accuracy, and liaise between lab and hospital departments for upgrades and new testing initiatives. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical sciences, or Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with MLT (ASCP) certification plus 2 years job related experience
• State license requirements - North Dakota: MT-L:ND
• Strong knowledge of POC systems and regulatory standards (CLIA)

• Oversees daily, weekly, and monthly Point of Care (POC) report production and distribution to hospital leadership
• Manages full lifecycle of POC support tickets and maintains secure user access
• Coordinates POC equipment maintenance and acts as laboratory representative for POC projects

• Directs training and continuing education of POC personnel and ensures audit-ready documentation
• Acts as CLIA-defined Technical Consultant or Moderate Complexity Laboratory Director when qualified

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Point of Care Coordinator, you will help clinical and laboratory teams across 2-3 hospital locations manage and optimize their testing systems so they can provide accurate, timely, and compliant patient care. Every day, you will oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the Point of Care (POC) system, including managing support tickets, verifying report accuracy, and ensuring all testing equipment is functioning correctly. You will be expected to serve as the primary technical liaison, bridging the gap between the laboratory and various hospital departments to coordinate system upgrades, policy development, and the successful implementation of new testing initiatives. To be successful in this role, you must possess strong technical knowledge of laboratory information systems and regulatory standards (CLIA), along with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and effectively train staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• Operational Reporting & Administration: Oversees daily, weekly, and monthly Point of Care (POC) report production, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely dissemination to hospital leadership
• System & Technical Support: Manages the full lifecycle of POC support tickets, resolves technical issues in collaboration with CSH support, and maintains secure user access to all POC systems
• Equipment & Project Oversight: Coordinates POC equipment maintenance and serves as the laboratory representative for all projects regarding POC design, implementation, and lifecycle management
• Regulatory Compliance & Policy: Develops and enforces POC policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing adherence to state and federal regulatory standards, including the validation of all governance change requests
• Training & Competency Management: Directs the training and continuing education of POC personnel, ensures all training documentation is audit-ready, and validates operator competencies
• Clinical Leadership (CLIA/Technical Consultant): Acts as the CLIA-defined Technical Consultant or Moderate Complexity Laboratory Director (if qualified/appointed), providing clinical oversight and regulatory sign-offs as required

Job Requirements

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical sciences, or Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with MLT (ASCP) certification plus 2 years job related experience
• State license requirements - North Dakota: MT-L:ND
• Job duties require considerable knowledge of the principles and practices related to point of care systems in order to act as Lab POC SME (Subject Matter Expert)

Preferred

• Minimum 2 years POC Coordinator experience in an Acute Care setting
