Job summary

Job description

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200 000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• This is an open continuous announcement and will remain open until September 18, 2026.
• The initial cut‑off date for referral of eligible applications is April 27, 2026, with subsequent cut‑off dates every two weeks.
• Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available.
• The podiatrist is a specialty professional in the care of podiatry.
• The podiatrist will evaluate and treat patients for any disease requiring surgical or podiatry diagnosis and/or treatment to achieve palliation or cure.
• The podiatrist will have assigned OR time and clinic time.
• The surgical department strives to maintain a safe working environment by identifying and addressing safety and well‑being issues within the podiatry section.
• Major duties include administrative duties designated by the Chief of Surgery.
• Duties involving preventative medicine, emergency preparedness, Joint Commission, and other internal and external health systems requirements as deemed by the Chief of Surgery.
• Supervision and training of surgical residents, other trainees, and physician extenders.
• Provide fair and equitable on‑call services during daytime, after‑hours, weekends, and holidays based on a mutually agreed upon and pre‑determined schedule.
• Demonstrate the ability to relate to internal and external customers, maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information, work safely, and show ongoing commitment to the Medical Center’s Performance Improvement program.
• Other duties include after‑hour call coverage, committee assignments, quality improvement, and research.
• Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. This is not a virtual position.
