Job summary

Vitae Health seeks a qualified Podiatrist to deliver comprehensive podiatric care in a skilled nursing facility. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat foot and lower-extremity conditions to promote mobility and quality of life for residents.

Responsibilities include wound care, minor procedures, care-plan collaboration, and staff education, with strict documentation and infection-control adherence. A DPM, current license, and LTC experience are required.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited podiatry program.
• Active and unrestricted state license to practice podiatric medicine.
• Board certification or board eligibility preferred.
• 4-5 years of podiatry experience, preferably in long-term care, geriatrics, or wound care.
• Strong knowledge of lower extremity pathology, diabetic foot care, and wound management.
• Experience performing minor surgical procedures and wound debridement.
• Excellent clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents and teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive podiatric evaluations of skin, vascular, neurological, and musculoskeletal status of feet.
• Diagnose and treat foot and lower extremity conditions including infections, ulcers, deformities, and nails.
• Perform routine and advanced podiatric procedures within scope of practice.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focusing on prevention of high-risk conditions.
• Oversee wound care treatment for lower extremity wounds with nursing and wound teams.
• Monitor chronic conditions impacting foot health, including diabetes complications.
• Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation therapists, and primary care providers for coordinated care.
• Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary planning.
• Educate residents, families, and staff on foot care and footwear.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation per regulations.
• Ensure infection control, HIPAA, OSHA compliance; provide oversight to staff.
• Assist with scheduling, documentation workflows, and coordination of podiatry services.
• Complete documentation within 72 hours of encounter.
• Provide services to a defined facility census.
