Qualifications:
- Education: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Active Indiana state podiatry license; DEA certification for prescribing medications
- Experience: Completion of a podiatric medicine residency program.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in minor surgical procedures (non-operating room); Prescription of orthotics and therapeutic treatments; Diabetic foot care and preventive education
- Soft Skills: Strong communication for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; Empathy and adaptability in a psychiatric care setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct medical histories and physical exams focused on foot/ankle health.
- Diagnose and treat conditions (e.g., bunions, plantar fasciitis, diabetic foot ulcers).
- Perform minor surgical procedures (e.g., ingrown nail removal).
- Prescribe orthotics, medications, and therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with psychiatric and medical teams to address mobility challenges.
- Educate patients on preventive foot care and hygiene.
- Maintain compliant and accurate electronic health records.
