Job description

The VA Loma Linda has an opening for an energetic, driven, and compassionate Physician in healthcare to serve as a Podiatrist.

Facility Details: VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VALLHCS) is actively recruiting to fill a Board Certified or Board Eligible Podiatrist position to care for our Veterans, America's Heroes. The selected candidate will be considered for a faculty appointment at Loma Linda University and will be involved with education and teaching of medical students, residents, and other providers. This exciting opportunity is at our state-of-the-art VA facility in Loma Linda. VA Loma Linda is among the VA Medical Centers in the Western U.S. and is dedicated to improving the health of those who have served our nation.

Position Details:

The duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Applying a wide range of professional theories, assessment methods, and techniques to care for patients with podiatric medical and surgical problems.
  2. Developing coherent treatment strategies.
  3. Incorporating new clinical procedures.
  4. Providing care via Video Appointments (VVC).
  5. Offering professional advice and consultation related to podiatric conditions.
  6. Supervising and managing professional staff, including students and residents.
  7. Assessing qualifications and abilities of current and prospective employees.
  8. Collaborating effectively with other physicians and providers across various clinical services and departments.
  9. Diagnosing and treating medical and surgical disorders using appropriate techniques to ensure quality care.
  10. Performing initial evaluations, workups, history and physicals, and admitting podiatric patients as needed. Clinical duties include operating room procedures, inpatient rounds, emergency room, and outpatient clinics. The ability to perform a variety of podiatric surgical procedures is required.
  11. Supervising students and residents rotating through the podiatry service.
  12. Participating in surgical quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  13. Engaging in podiatry call and performing emergency surgical procedures.
  14. Providing patient education regarding their disease and treatment options, including risks and benefits of surgical interventions.
  15. Completing all required electronic documentation and charting in a timely manner, including outcomes reporting.
  16. Consulting with Medical Center staff on patient care issues.
  17. Enforcing policies of full disclosure, discussing complications with patients, and documenting these discussions.
  18. Working effectively with patients, colleagues, and their families with respect and dignity.
  19. Reporting administratively and clinically to the Chief of Podiatry, and possibly to the Chief of Surgery depending on the assigned program.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or as determined by the department based on organizational needs.

Salary Range: $180,000 - $210,000

Qualifications: Board certification or Board eligibility in Podiatry is preferred.
