Job summary

KQED is seeking a Podcast Operations and Engagement Intern for a 16-hour-per-week schedule, Jan 19, 2027 through Jun 25, 2027, at $19.61 per hour. The role supports podcast teams and engagement efforts, with opportunities to contribute to production, social media content, and community activities.

The internship emphasizes public service journalism, equity, and inclusive storytelling, with a hybrid work arrangement between HQ and remote tasks, inviting diverse applicants.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Some experience with video and/or audio editing software.
• Familiarity with Google Drive tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Independent thinker who works well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Engagement Producer with planning, scripting, filming and editing of short-form videos for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other digital platforms.
• Assist with the creation and production of social media assets including video thumbnails, graphics, carousels, and other visual content.
• Write promotional copy for internal and external collaborators.
• Produce promotional audio material.
• Assist with the trafficking and distribution of promos and other audio content.
• Attend meetings, and support other engagement activities as needed.
