Job summary

Sherwood Aviation is seeking an Experienced Pneumatics Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul aircraft pneumatic components in a FAA‑compliant shop environment. You will work with engineers and QC teams to ensure components meet regulatory standards and customer requirements.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, detail orientation, and experience with pneumatic systems. FAA‑A&P is a plus but not required; on‑site work in a fast-paced aviation repair facility is

Qualifications

• Prior aviation maintenance experience with pneumatic systems preferred.
• Ability to read Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) and maintenance drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail required.
• FAA regulations and industry standards familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and reassemble aircraft pneumatic components.
• Perform functional testing using approved testing equipment.
• Identify defects, wear, damage, and malfunctions to determine repairs or replacements.
• Read and interpret Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), technical drawings, schematics, and other maintenance docs.
• Perform repairs and maintenance in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specs, and procedures.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments, pneumatic test equipment, hand tools, and specialized aviation tools.
• Inspect components for proper operation, pressure regulation, leakage, and functionality.
• Document all inspections, repairs, testing, and maintenance activities accurately.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and identification of aircraft components and materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow safety policies, quality procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Quality Control, Production, and other departments for timely repairs.
• Identify opportunities to improve repair processes, efficiency, and product quality.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

The Pneumatics Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling aircraft pneumatic components in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with aircraft pneumatic systems and components in a fast-paced aviation repair environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and reassemble aircraft pneumatic components.

Qualifications

Skills and Education Experience

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous experience in aviation maintenance, pneumatic component repair, or a related mechanical field preferred.

• Experience working in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station preferred.
• Knowledge of aircraft pneumatic systems, pressure regulators, valves, actuators, and related components preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and maintenance instructions.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and pneumatic testing equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and established maintenance procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification is a plus but not required, provided the employee performs work within the authorization and supervision requirements applicable to the position.
