Job summary

Utz Quality Foods is hiring a Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) for the 1st shift at our Algona, WA facility. The role focuses on efficient operation of packaging machines, ensuring proper weight, spice alignment, and correct code dates.

Schedule is Monday–Friday 6:00 am–2:30 pm with Saturdays as needed. Starting pay is $24.00/hour with benefits including health, dental and vision, 401(k) with match, paid holidays, PTO, and WA paid sick leave.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in operating food processing equipment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Thorough knowledge of machinery and sound mechanical ability.
• Ability to use a production computer/program.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to be an independent thinker and make good decisions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspects equipment daily for cleanliness and sanitation.
• Conducts changeovers and replaces packaging film as needed.
• Coordinates proper spicing with correct packaging film.
• Checks code dates for accuracy every 15 minutes.
• Inspects bag seams to ensure strong seals.
• Keeps quality records and works with QC to meet standards.
• Maintains efficient operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoots and resolves potential equipment issues.
• Communicates with production team to maintain flow of production.
• Performs sanitation and other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Utz Quality Foods is looking to grow our loyal, career driven, and customer focused team and is currently recruiting for aPackaging Machine Operator (PMO)to work from our UTZmanufacturing facility located in Algona, WAon1st Shift.

The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of the packaging machines ensuring proper weight, spicing, sealing and code date of finished product. The PMO is scheduled to work Monday-Friday 6:00 am-2:30 pm, with Saturdays as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspects equipment daily to be sure it is clean and sanitary.
• Conducts changeovers, replacing packaging film as needed.
• Coordinates proper spicing with correct packaging film.
• Checks code dates for accuracy every 15 minutes.
• Inspects bag seams making sure seals are strong.
• Works with quality control to ensure standards are good; keeps applicable records.
• Maintains efficient operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoots and proactively solves potential problems with equipment.
• Communicates with all production associates to ensure positive flow of production and accomplish goals of the packaging schedule.
• Sanitation and other duties, as assigned.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum two years’ experience in operating food processing equipment preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Thorough knowledge of machinery and sound mechanical ability.
• Ability to use production computer program.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to be an independent thinker and make good decisions.
• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under constant pressure of production line environment.
• Must be able to lift rolls of film weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis during the shift.

Starting payrate: $24.00/hour
