Job summary

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) to operate packaging lines at our Algona, WA facility on 1st shift. The PMO will ensure correct weight, spice, seal, and date codes for finished products while maintaining clean, sanitary equipment.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–2:30 pm with Saturdays as needed. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, paid holidays and PTO, and WA sick leave.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience operating food processing equipment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Thorough knowledge of machinery and sound mechanical ability.
• Ability to use production computer program.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment daily to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
• Check metal detectors as instructed.
• Perform changeovers and replace packaging film.
• Coordinate proper spicing with correct packaging film.
• Check code dates every 15 minutes for accuracy.
• Inspect bag seams to ensure strong seals.
• Work with quality control to maintain standards and keep records.
• Maintain efficient operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoot and solve potential equipment problems.
• Communicate with production team for smooth workflow.
• Perform sanitation and other duties as assigned.

Utz Quality Foods is looking to grow our loyal, career driven, and customer focused team and is currently recruiting for a Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) to work from our UTZmanufacturing facility located in Algona, WA on 1st Shift.

The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of the packaging machines ensuring proper weight, spicing, sealing and code date of finished product. The PMO is scheduled to work Monday-Friday 6:00 am-2:30 pm,with Saturdays as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspects equipment daily to be sure it is clean and sanitary.
• Checks metal detectors as instructed.
• Conducts changeovers, replacing packaging film as needed.
• Coordinates proper spicing with correct packaging film.
• Checks code dates for accuracy every 15 minutes.
• Inspects bag seams making sure seals are strong.
• Works with quality control to ensure standards are good; keeps applicable records.
• Maintains efficient operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoots and proactively solves potential problems with equipment.
• Communicates with all production associates to ensure positive flow of production and accomplish goals of the packaging schedule.
• Sanitation and other duties, as assigned.

Skills & Experience

Minimum two years’ experience in operating food processing equipment preferred.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Thorough knowledge of machinery and sound mechanical ability.

Ability to use production computer program.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Ability to be an independent thinker and make good decisions.

Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under constant pressure of production line environment.

Must be able to lift rolls of film weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis during the shift.

Starting payrate:$24.00/hour
