Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University invites applications for the full-time Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Program Director / Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will oversee PM&R resident education, mentor a cohort of about 20 residents, and ensure adherence to ACGME requirements while delivering specialized patient care in Rehabilitation Medicine.

Responsibilities include on-call coverage, teaching medical students and trainees, participating in research in Rehab

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree.
• New York State medical licensure.
• Board-certified academic musculoskeletal physiatrist with strong IRF knowledge.
• 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
• Adhere to ACGME PM&R requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee recruitment, supervision, mentoring and evaluation of PM&R residents (~20).
• Provide on-call coverage for the rehabilitation unit.
• Teach students, nurses, PAs and residents; supervise lectures/conferences.
• Participate in research in Rehab Medicine, Musculoskeletal Physiatry or Sports Medicine.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and medical staff bylaws.
