Job summary

Woodberry Forest School in VA is seeking a Prep Cook / Float Cook for the PM shift to support the dining services team. This full-time role requires versatility to work across salad/pantry and grill stations during service rushes.

The ideal candidate brings knife skills, experience in a high-volume kitchen, and a commitment to food safety. You will help maintain sanitation, stock prep areas, and cooperate with the Sous Chef and Director of Food Service.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of prep cook/line cook experience in a high-volume kitchen.
• Demonstrable knife skills and familiarity with basic kitchen machinery.
• Food Handler’s Certificate required on hire or within 60 days.
• Ability to multitask and transition between prep work and line cooking.
• Clear verbal communication for line calls and safety alerts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with prep work and station support across Salad/Pantry and Grill during service rushes.
• Prepare line items such as dressings, sauces, marinades, soups, and cold items.
• Maintain FIFO and ensure prep areas and line stations are stocked and clean.
• Support sanitation, safety, and maintenance in the kitchen.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff and supervisors to ensure smooth service.
