Job description

A financial firm is looking for a PM/Portfolio Manager - Corporate Engineering to join their team in New York, NY.

Pay: $100/hr

Responsibilities:

• Provide end-to-end oversight for a large, diverse engineering project portfolio, ensuring alignment with business goals and organizational priorities.
• Monitor portfolio-level status, progress, and risks to ensure consistent delivery and timely resolution of issues.
• Lead portfolio intake, capacity planning, resource allocation, and dependency management to optimize performance and minimize delivery conflicts.
• Analyze and report on portfolio health, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Champion project standards, tools, and methodologies within Corporate Engineering.
• Ensure robust governance, compliance, risk management, and documentation in line with PMO frameworks.
• Maintain audit-ready reporting and documentation practices.
• Ensure business teams are kept up to date on project progress, key developments, and changes that may impact objectives or timelines.
• Proactively manage and communicate changes to the portfolio roadmap, working with business and engineering stakeholders to address issues and minimize impact.
• Lead cross-functional meetings, status updates, and communications to promote transparency, clarity, and accountability throughout project execution.
• Prepare and present clear status reports, dashboards, and metrics tailored to Engineering and senior stakeholders.
• Track key indicators, milestones, dependencies, and risks; participate in process improvements to enhance project and portfolio delivery.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5–7 years’ experience in project management within an Engineering PMO or technology portfolio.
• Proficiency in PMO tools (JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet) and understanding of technical project lifecycles.
• Demonstrated ability managing large project portfolios and cross-functional teams.
• Exceptional organizational, detail-orientation, and communication skills.
• Preferred: PMP or similar certifications; experience in financial services, regulated industries, or embedded PMO/audit/support roles.
