Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an LPN for the Highlands 6 North Hospitalist unit at UAB Hospital-Highlands. The role delivers bedside nursing care in a 24-bed acute care setting with emphasis on patient advocacy, care planning, and collaboration with the nursing team.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program.
• Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS certification may be required depending on unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process and UAB Hospital standards.
• Orient patients and families to the environment and act as patient advocate.
• Collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems.
• Evaluate patient response to care and document delivery of care; respond to emergencies as needed.
