Job summary

Daimler Truck North America invites applications for a General Supervisor role in Hibbing, MN. The position directs a group of hourly workers responsible for cleaning, teardown, and re-manufacturing of electronic and mechatronic assemblies.

It requires a high school diploma and 2 years of supervisory experience. You will monitor performance, coordinate resources, and ensure quality and safety in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory/lead role.
  • Familiarity with computer applications and controlled systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; coaching and mentoring.
  • Able to organize and direct staff to meet daily demand; strong communication.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve daily production and annual lead goals.
  • Coordinate staff, parts, and process flow to minimize WIP and maximize efficiency.
  • Monitor overtime and ensure policy compliance.
  • Work with Manager on performance reviews and issues.
  • Review time records and schedule vacations.
  • Enforce company policies to maintain discipline.
  • Maintain clean, safe work environment using 5S.
  • Communicate goals for each area and monitor product quality.
  • Provide and promote solutions to reduce recurring problems.
  • Understand the product and how it performs; lead by example.

  • Starting pay of $26.45/hr. up to top pay of $37.33/hr.*


  • Quarterly gainsharing bonus potential


  • *additional shift differential for off-shifts

General Purpose of the Position:

Assists in directing the activities of a group of hourly employees in an area of work that involves the cleaning, teardown and/or re-manufacturing of electronic and mechatronic assemblies. Work involves an understanding of plant operations. This position works under minimal supervision.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Achieve daily production and annual Lead goals.


  • Coordinate staff, parts, and process flow to minimize work in progress, eliminate shortages, and maximize efficiency.


  • Monitor daily and weekly overtime ensuring policy compliance.


  • Work closely with Manager/Supervisor on performance related issues and employee performance reviews.


  • Review time records and schedule vacation for employees.


  • Maintain discipline through enforcement of the company policies.


  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment within the department through use of 5S principles.


  • Communicate goals for each area.


  • Monitor product quality to achieve a superior quality reputation.


  • Provide and promote solutions that will eliminate reoccurring problems.


  • Understand the product and how it performs.


  • Lead and set an example for others.


  • Keep team members motivated toward continuous improvement.


  • Review, Develop, and Communicate work instruction updates and ISO documentation.


  • Provide instruction for proper use of tools and fixtures.


  • Communicate material shortages to the materials manager/supervisor.


  • Communicate equipment issues to supervision, maintenance and engineering.


  • Understand and perform functions within an MRP system. Control inventory movement through MRP transactions.



Minimum Requirements:


  • Education: High School Diploma/GED


  • Years of Experience: 2 years



Other Qualifications:


  • Familiarity with computer applications and/or controlled systems


  • High level of analytical and problem-solving ability


  • Strong computer skills (ex. Excel, Word, Power Point)


  • Coaching, training and mentoring skills


  • Ability to organize and direct staff to meet daily customer demand


  • Effective oral and written communication skills


  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with others so as to motivate employees and elicit work output


  • Must be available to work all shifts and/or flexible hours



Preferred Education and Experience:


  • AA degree in the field of electronics


  • Prior experience as front-line supervisor/leading a team



Physical Requirements:


  • Frequently (61-90%)


  • Sometimes(31-60%)


  • Rarely (1-30%)
