Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Cleveland, NC is seeking a Logistics Systems Specialist to support material retrieval equipment and warehouse systems, drive continuous improvements, and lead cross-functional projects enhancing material flow. The role focuses on integrating new materials, optimizing packaging, Kanban, kitting, sequencing and dashboards to enable data-driven decisions.

Strong SQL/Power BI skills and effective communication are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; preferred Materials Engineering or related field.
  • 2-4 years experience in manufacturing operations, engineering, or logistics.
  • Familiar with mechanical, electrical, industrial and software engineering principles to optimize project success.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective presentation skills and ability to create PowerPoint and project schedules.
  • Familiarity with materials flow and process development.
  • Experience with Warehouse management software.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage projects with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, root-cause analysis, and material flow principles.
  • Proficient in SQL and Power BI for data analysis, KPI monitoring, and dashboard development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for monitoring and maintaining logistics systems for material flow (Manhattan WMS, Dematic, EMS, EDI).
  • Monitor, maintain and create equipment/software alerts for uptime and efficiency.
  • Facilitate configuration changes and improvements for warehouse management systems (shuttle/retrieval).
  • Develop and improve packaging and material flow processes including Kanban, Repack, kitting, sequencing, stocking and line delivery.
  • Develop and optimize material flow, storage, kitting and workstation layouts.
  • Lead logistics improvement projects involving equipment, automation, digital solutions and third-party providers.
  • Coordinate implementation of projects with Corporate ME, Operations, IT, Maintenance, Facilities and Contractors.
  • Perform time studies, capacity and manpower analysis to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Develop dashboards and data analysis tools to monitor logistics KPIs and support decision-making.

Job description

Inside the Role

Provide support for maintaining material retrieval equipment including software systems throughout the plant. This position will investigate system issues, determine root causes, and coordinate corrective actions with corporate support teams. The role is responsible for integrating new materials and processes into logistics systems while supporting packaging optimization, kitting, sequencing, material flow improvements, and warehouse layout development. The position will lead logistics improvement projects, support automation and digital initiatives, develop KPI dashboards, and coordinate cross-functional implementation activities to improve operational performance and material flow throughout the facility.

Position offers a starting salary range of$86,000 - $110,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Provide support for monitoring andmaintaininglogisticssystems for material flow (Manhattan Warehouse management system, Dematic, EMS, EDI system, Etc.)

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline, preferably within field of Materials Engineering or related technical Engineering field

  • 2-4 years experience in manufacturing operations/ engineering/ logistics

  • Familiar with basic mechanical, electrical, industrial and software engineering principles to optimize project success

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective presentation skills and able to create PowerPoint, project schedules

  • Familiarity with materials Flow and process development

  • Experience with Warehouse management software

  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with a diversity of customers

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, root-causeanalysisand material flow principles.

  • Proficiently using SQL and Power BI for data analysis, KPImonitoringand dashboard development.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Project management experience preferred

  • Knowledge of Manhattan Warehouse management system, Dematic software, pick to light software and other logistic flow systems

  • Experience in automated storage and retrieval systems

  • Participation in process development and qualification in materials warehouse systems in a production manufacturing environment
