Job Summary

The dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, etc., using both machine and manual cleaning methods. This position will maintain kitchen, work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and orderly condition. You will place clean dishes, utensils, and equipment in storage areas, and prepare and package individual place settings. May be directed by Managers to: stock supplies such as food and utensils, transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, and sort and remove trash.

Essential Functions

• Load, run, and unload dish machine ensuring proper cleaning and sanitation.
• Maintain cleanliness of pots, pans, and trays by hand washing when necessary.
• Sort and rinse dishes, glassware, and utensils, then place them in racks for the dish machine.
• Sort and stack clean dishes, then transport to storage areas.
• Change dishwater hourly and monitor machine temperatures for safety standards.
• Sort and remove trash, clean garbage cans, and maintain cleanliness of the dish pit.
• Clean walls, floors, and prepare foods as needed.
• Follow safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with OSHA and health guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
• Sense of urgency and customer service orientation.
• Ability to move safely throughout the kitchen and maintain equipment.
• Professional appearance and knowledge of kitchen layout and equipment use.

Education and Work Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 0-1 year experience in a full-service kitchen environment.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a high-noise, fast-paced kitchen with exposure to chemicals and food allergens, requiring constant alertness and safety precautions.

Requirements

• Active ServSafe Handler’s Card and adherence to local food handler requirements.
• Excellent punctuality and attendance record.

Physical Demands

Constant use of hands, lifting up to 40 lbs, standing, walking, bending, and exposure to wet and noisy environments.
