Job summary

Liscio's Italian Bakery, Inc. is seeking a PM Baking Supervisor to lead the second shift, oversee industrial tunnel and Gemini ovens, and ensure safe, efficient production of high-quality baked goods.

Job description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVEThe PM Baking Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all second shift baking operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely production of high-quality baked goods that meet Company and customer standards. This position provides leadership to the baking team, oversees the operation of industrial tunnel and Gemini ovens, coordinates production schedules with other departments, and ensures compliance with all food safety, quality, and Company policies. The PM Baking Supervisor is responsible for driving productivity, minimizing waste, developing employees, and maintaining a positive, accountable work environment.RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrate and enforce General Bakery Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, SOPs, and all Company quality standards.Supervise all PM baking operations, ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining product quality, consistency, efficiency, and on-time delivery.Oversee the operation of industrial tunnel and Gemini ovens, monitoring baking temperatures, humidity, baking times, steam injection, and other process controls to ensure products consistently meet Company specifications.Adjust baking processes and oven settings as needed to maintain proper product appearance, texture, internal temperature, and overall quality.Lead, coach, train, develop, and supervise Baking Associates, providing ongoing instruction, performance feedback, and accountability while promoting teamwork and a positive work environment.Coordinate daily production activities with Production, Packing, Shipping, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Sanitation to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of production requirements.Conduct regular inspections of ovens and baking equipment, identify operational concerns, coordinate maintenance needs, and troubleshoot production issues to minimize downtime.Monitor production yields, labor efficiency, product quality, waste, and downtime, implementing continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.Ensure accurate production records, baking logs, inventory documentation, and other required operational documentation are completed timely and accurately.Utilize the Company's HRIS (Paycom) to perform supervisory and administrative responsibilities including employee scheduling, timecard reconciliation, attendance management, approving time-off requests, maintaining employee records, completing performance evaluations, documenting coaching and corrective actions, issuing disciplinary actions, and partnering with Human Resources to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.Maintain appropriate staffing levels, assign work effectively, monitor employee performance throughout the shift, and make operational decisions necessary to meet daily production goals.Promote a culture of accountability, safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education or technical training in baking, food production, or manufacturing is preferred.Three or more years of supervisory experience in a commercial bakery or food manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of commercial baking operations, including industrial tunnel and/or Gemini ovens, temperature controls, steam injection, baking cycles, and production flow.Spanish proficiency preferred.Strong leadership, coaching, employee development, and conflict resolution skills.Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Basic computer proficiency and experience using HRIS and production management systems. Paycom experience is preferred.Thorough understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP, GMPs, sanitation practices, and quality assurance standards.Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSContinuous standing and walking throughout the shift.Frequently lift and carry up to 20 pounds.Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Frequently bend, twist, reach, push, pull, crouch, and climb stairs.Continuous use of both hands, including repetitive grasping, reaching, and wrist movement.Ability to work safely in hot manufacturing environments around industrial baking equipment.Please note this job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with this position.
