Allbritten Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing, and Electrical is seeking a Plumbing Service Technician to diagnose, repair, install, and maintain residential plumbing systems. This hourly, non-exempt role requires strong problem-solving, good communication, and the ability to work independently at customers' homes.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair residential plumbing systems, including water, gas, sanitary, and storm systems.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
• Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, fixtures, and appliances including water heaters and dishwashers.
• Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand tools and power equipment.
• Prepare written job estimates and explain repair or replacement options to customers.
• Complete service documentation, work orders, reports, and time records using company systems.

Job description

Position Summary

The Plumbing Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining residential plumbing systems. This position requires strong technical expertise, adherence to safety standards, and professional customer communication to guide customers toward informed and confident purchasing decisions.

This role is classified as non-exempt (hourly) and is eligible for overtime in accordance with California law and applicable Industrial Welfare Commission Wage Orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs require.

• Diagnose and repair residential plumbing systems, including water, gas, sanitary, and storm systems.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
• Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, fixtures (sinks, toilets, faucets), and appliances (including water heaters and dishwashers).
• Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand tools and power equipment.
• Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air to test systems and detect leaks.
• Review applicable plumbing codes, building plans, and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
• Prepare written job estimates and clearly explain repair or replacement options to customers.
• Study building plans and inspect structures to assess materials, equipment needs, and installation sequencing.
• Locate and mark positions for pipe installations and connections using measuring instruments.
• Cut and access structural openings as necessary to accommodate installations.
• Hang supports and secure piping systems properly and safely.
• Perform underground plumbing installation and repair, including use of trenching or excavation equipment as appropriate.
• Install underground storm, sanitary, and potable water piping systems and connect fixtures accordingly.
• Perform drain clearing and debris removal as necessary during repairs or renovations.
• Complete service documentation, work orders, reports, and time records accurately and timely using company systems.
• Collect payment from customers at the completion of each job in accordance with company cash handling policies.
• Safely operate company vehicles and maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with company vehicle policy.
• Comply with all company policies, safety standards (including Cal/OSHA requirements), attendance policies, dress code standards, and code of conduct expectations.
