Job summary

BD in Connecticut is seeking a Maintenance/Plumbing Assistant to support plumbing tasks, assist with installation and repair, and help manage tools and materials on site. You will perform preventive maintenance, assist with PM on air handlers, pumps, boilers, and report issues, while following GMP and site documentation in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–3 years of maintenance, plumbing, or related trade experience.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in mechanical rooms.
• Read and follow procedures, checklists, and work orders.
• Willingness to work scheduled shifts, with possible after-hours support in a 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities

• Assist plumber with repair, installation, and replacement of piping and fixtures.
• Stage and transport tools and materials to the job site and assist with setup and cleanup.
• Support shutdowns, drainer activities, and start-ups under the plumber's direction.
• Inspect restrooms, break areas, emergency showers, water heaters, and related components.
• Perform preventive maintenance including inspections, lubrication, and belt changes.
• Support work on air handlers, pumps, and boilers as assigned.
• Report leaks, unusual noises, and safety concerns promptly.
• Keep mechanical rooms and tool storage clean and organized.
• Complete work order close-out with labor and parts recorded.
