City of Bay City is seeking a Part-Time Plumbing Plan Reviewer/Inspector under the Building Code Enforcement Department. The role involves plans review, inspector duties for plumbing and fire protection systems, and ensuring compliance with state and federal codes.

Under the direction of the Community Development Director, this position works with architects, engineers, owners, contractors and the public to enforce codes and provide customer service while coordinating with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Registered as plumbing plan reviewer and inspector per Act 407 of 2016.
• Registered as fire protection plan reviewer and inspector per Act 407 of 2016.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to inspections.

Responsabilités

• Explain and apply plumbing and fire protection codes to stakeholders and review plans and permits.
• Coordinate issues with contractors and residents during construction or complaints.
• Inspect plumbing and fire protection systems for conformance with codes in various buildings.
• Issue written notices of code violations requiring corrective action.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations and complaints.
• Provide high level customer service to City staff, the public and businesses.
• Evaluate and revise procedures to conform with codes and policies.
• Drive to inspection sites and perform required inspections.
• Perform related work as assigned.
