Job summary

Lead Dog Recruiting is seeking a Fire Protection and Plumbing Engineer/Designer for a design and architecture firm. The role requires 10+ years of experience, with hybrid work options from one of four office locations, and remote work on Mondays and Fridays.

The position involves coordinating with architects, performing fieldwork, and producing schematic designs using AutoCAD/REVIT. Certifications are preferred, including PE status and LEED credentials.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a related engineering/science discipline with a sound knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Graduate and/or registered Professional Engineer is a plus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or REVIT software (REVIT preferred).
• Understanding of the national standard plumbing codes, building codes and NFPA codes.

Responsibilities

• Meet with architects and other team members to determine appropriate plumbing and fire protection systems, location, and preliminary cost estimates.
• Perform appropriate fieldwork to determine a design direction, including making educated decisions on system designs and upgrades.
• Experience with system layout, calculation, and sizing of piping and equipment.
• Work with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate systems during design and production drawings.
• Perform plumbing system and fire protection system design calculations.
• Understand construction plans of plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Prepare contract documents to design and provide concepts for schematic design packages using latest version of AutoCad and/or Revit software, HydraCad/HydraCALC is a plus.
• To develop technical construction specifications to appropriately support project design and drawings.
• Assist in plumbing and fire protection construction administration of the project, including shop drawing review, site visits, cost proposal evaluations, and response to questions from the field.
• Strong written and communication skills are a must with the ability to multi-task - working on simultaneous project assignments, each in different phases.

The company is currently hiring a Fire Protection and Plumbing Engineer/Designer with 10+ years' experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems. You will work hybrid from one of our 4 offices T, W, Th and remotely M, F.

This position will perform all aspects of engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. An engineering degree is a plus but not required, your relevant work experience will suffice. The Plumbing/Fire Protection Designer will meet the following list of requirements and must have the ability to:

The salary is around 100k plus bonus and a benefits package will be offered.

Preferred Certifications:

• ASPE (American Society of Plumbing Engineers) CPDT, OR CPD, preferred or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
• LEED certifications are a plus.
