Job summary

STV is seeking a motivated Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering Intern to join our Buildings & Facilities team in New York. This internship provides hands-on exposure to planning, design, and documentation of plumbing and fire protection systems across a variety of building types.

This role supports engineers in preparing layouts, basic calculations, and construction documentation, while gaining experience with AutoCAD, Revit, NFPA standards, and building codes across commercial, industrial,

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Coursework in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, building systems, or fire protection engineering preferred.
• Prior internship or co-op experience in mechanical, plumbing, or fire protection design preferred.
• Interest in sustainable design principles (LEED familiarity a plus) and pursuing CPD/NICET.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of plumbing and fire protection system designs.
• Support calculations for domestic water, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, gas, air, and vacuum systems.
• Assist with sprinkler system hydraulic calculations under supervision.
• Help develop technical reports, equipment schedules, and specifications.
• Support survey and documentation of existing plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit to produce drawings and coordinate with teams.
