Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Plumbing Engineer to design, evaluate, and plan plumbing systems for diverse projects in healthcare, Federal, industrial, municipal, and commercial sectors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, a North Carolina PE or eligibility within 6 months, and at least 5 years of design experience. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office is expected, with LEED/CPD a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Active Professional Engineer license in NC or eligible to be licensed within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Design plumbing systems including medical/laboratory piping considerations.
  • Develop performance specifications for fire protection systems.
  • Prepare detailed design documents and project specifications.
  • Perform code compliance research.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and conduct site surveys.
  • Provide support for construction administration services.

Job Summary

The Plumbing Engineer will provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of plumbing systems. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects in a variety of market sectors, such as healthcare, Federal, industrial, municipal, and commercial projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design plumbing systems; familiarity with medical/laboratory piping and gases is a plus.
  • Design performance specification for fire protection systems.
  • Develop systems design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings.
  • Prepare detailed design documents.
  • Write/edit project specifications.
  • Be responsible for code compliance research.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines.
  • Work on site surveys to determine and document existing conditions.
  • Provide support for construction administration services.
Qualifications And Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Active Professional Engineering license in the state of North Carolina, or the ability to be licensed in North Carolina within 6 months of start date.
  • A minimum of 5 years design experience.
  • LEED certification/experience is a plus, CPD is preferred.
  • Experience with laboratories/medical facilities design is preferred, ASSE 6060 certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines.
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
