Job summary

Schnackel Engineers, Inc. in Miami seeks a Plumbing Engineer to develop plumbing plans and specifications for architectural projects across North America using our AI for MEP® software.

You will collaborate with the design team and clients, ensuring an integrated, fully coordinated design while delivering high-quality construction documents, pipe isometrics, and calculations. This role leverages our cutting-edge AI platform for efficient, accurate results.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Architectural Engineering, Architectural Engineering Technology, or related program.
• CPD Certification or ability to obtain CPD.
• Experience with an MEP/FP engineering consultant is preferred.
• Basic understanding of plumbing theory (layout, sizing, flow).
• AutoCAD and/or Revit experience.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Ability to work independently and thrive in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the client, the MEP/FP/IT design team, and other consultants to ensure design aligns with the client’s vision and schedule.
• Participate in meetings and conference calls as needed.
• Familiarize with applicable codes for the project.
• Use AutoCAD and related software to create plumbing construction documents, isometrics, schedules, and details.
• Perform load, pipe sizing, and equipment sizing calculations.
• Coordinate with local utilities for required services.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors for selection and specification of equipment.
• Provide construction administration (CA) services, including RFIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinating with the client, the MEP/FP/IT design team, and other consultants to ensure the design is consistent with the client’s vision, to identify and resolve areas of conflict, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained.
• Participate in meetings and conference calls when deemed necessary.
• Becoming familiar with the codes that are applicable to the project.
• Using AutoCAD and other software to create plumbing construction document packages which include plumbing fixture connections, equipment connections, and associated piping, plumbing isometric riser diagrams, appropriate schedules, details, and construction specifications.
• Performing all required calculations to support design decisions, including load calculations, pipe sizing calculations, and equipment sizing calculations.
• Coordinating with local utility companies to provide the required utility services to the project.
• Coordinating with equipment vendors and manufacturer’s representatives for selection and specification of appropriate equipment.
• Provide construction administration (CA) services, including answering requests for information (RFIs).

What We Are Looking For

• In possession of Associate’s degree or higher in Architectural Engineering, Architectural Engineering Technology, or related educational program.
• In possession of or ability to obtain Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) Certification.
• Previous plumbing design experience with an MEP/FP engineering consultant is preferred.
• Basic understanding of plumbing theory (system layout, sizing, flow characteristics, etc.).
• Previous AutoCAD and/or Revit experience.
• Exceptional communication and organization skills, including ability to prioritize tasks and multitask.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently upon receiving necessary direction and information.
• Thrive in fast-paced environments with desire to work efficiently.
