Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking a Plumbing Designer in Vista, CA to focus on building-related projects using Revit and AutoCAD. You will design plumbing systems for educational campuses, healthcare facilities, and more, ensuring code compliance and quality documentation.

The role requires a minimum of 5+ years in plumbing design, proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field). EIT/PE is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in plumbing design for various types of facilities.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology (a plus but not required).
• EIT/PE is a plus but not required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office software.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and experience in a broad spectrum of building types.

Responsibilities

• Develop system design calculations and select equipment for use in buildings (sump pumps, ejectors, water heating, boosters).
• Prepare detailed design documents and specifications.
• Conduct code compliance research and reviews.
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate with other disciplines.
• Provide construction administration support including submittal reviews and RFIs.

Job Summary

The Plumbing Designer serves to focus primarily on the design of building-related projects, including educational campuses, military bases, healthcare facilities, hotels, apartment buildings, retail/commercial spaces, and more using Revit and AutoCAD software.

Responsibilities

• Develop system design calculations and select equipment for use in buildings including sump pumps, sewage ejectors, water heating systems, water booster stations, etc.
• Preparation of detailed design documents
• Specification writing/editing
• Code compliance research
• Collaborate with various team members for coordinating services with other disciplines
• Site surveys to determine existing conditions
• Provide construction administration support including submittal reviews and RFI responses

Skills

• Familiarity with local and state codes, accepted standards and design guidelines
• Excellent work ethic and character
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with others but also independently
• Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize obligations to meet deadlines

Travel: up to 10%

The expected base salary range for this role is $45 - $50 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
