Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Plumbing Designer in Arlington, VA to support the Building Engineering Services Group.

You will perform design tasks, produce construction documents, and coordinate with other disciplines under licensed supervision to deliver compliant systems for commercial facilities. With an Associate’s degree and at least 5 years of related experience, you’ll apply industry standards and MS Office tools while contributing to an employee-owned culture committed to excellence and

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported.
  • Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported.
  • Knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Production of design drawings and construction documents through the use of computer aided design and other software.
  • Preparation of design or quantity calculations.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervising engineer.

In the role of Plumbing Designer, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform engineering assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer

Preferred Qualifications
  • ASPE Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) credential strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical system design of commercial, institutional, or federal buildings
  • Experience with the design of healthcare, laboratory, data center, aerospace, and/or federal/DOD facilities.
  • Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Mid-Atlantic (VA/MD/DC) Area
