Job summary

Christman Facility Solutions, LLC is seeking a Plumbing Apprentice in the Dallas, Texas region. You will support licensed plumbers, read blueprints, and learn to install and repair heating, water, steam, and drainage systems.

Responsibilities include continuous on-the-job training totaling about 2,000 hours per year, tool handling, and adherence to the Employee Handbook. The role involves fieldwork with travel up to 60 miles daily and occasional long trips.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Construction or plumbing experience preferred.
• Registration with Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners must be completed on day one if not licensed.
• Ability to read measurements and perform calculations.

Responsibilities

• Completes on-the-job training hours (2,000 per year).
• Assists plumbers under supervision and follows safety practices.
• Cuts, solders, and threads pipe as required and handles pipe fittings.
• Keeps tools, workspace, and materials organized and tracked.
• Travels to project sites within travel area and supports project schedule.

What You Will Do:

As a Plumbing Apprentice, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Completes 2,000 hours of on-the-job training each year of apprenticeship.
• Assists plumbers by performing tasks under the direct supervision of the designated Plumber/Foreman.
• Fulfils and complies with all requirements as described in the designated Employee Handbook.
• Demonstrates safe work habits and proper care and use of tools and equipment.
• Works on pipes, fittings and fixtures for heating, water, steam and drainage systems.
• Cuts and installs pipe hangers.
• Hangs pipe and assists in the setting of equipment.
• Cuts, solders, and threads pipe as required using pipe cutter, acetylene torch and pipe threading equipment.
• Digs trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
• Assists the supervisor with tracking material usage and material that needs to be ordered.
• Responsible for the upkeep and possession of power tools issued from the warehouse.
• Properly plans and executes specific work as directed.
  

Expected Hours of Work:

Full time position, occasional extended hours and weekends may apply.

Travel:

Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives. Long distance travel required occasionally, including overnight stays depending on the project.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• High School Diploma or GED Preferred Education and Experience
• Previous construction or plumbing experience preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Registration with Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners for a Plumbing Apprentice License must be completed on 1st day of employment if not already licensed
• Work requires manual dexterity to use plumbing and power tools.
• Have personal hand tools and tool belt/pouch within the first 3 months of employment (refer to the mandatory tool list provided during onboarding).
• Have good communication skills both orally and in writing.
• Have the ability to take measurements and make calculations.
• Ability to problem solve when errors occur.
• Keep tools and workspace organized.
• Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Must be able to tolerate heights without fear.
