Job summary

Yellow Jacket Maintenance Services is seeking a Plumber to perform service, repair, and installation work across residential and multi-family properties in the Chicagoland area. This field-based role requires hands-on troubleshooting and adherence to safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in plumbing or related maintenance, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift heavy materials. On-call rotation and strong communication with property managers are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of plumbing, maintenance technician, or handyman experience.
• Experience with service-based plumbing.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in the field.
• Drain cleaning, water heater service, and plumbing fixture repair or installation.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly (75–100 lbs occasionally).
• English proficiency and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Available for rotating on-call schedule.
• If you do not hold a Chicago Plumbing License or apprentice status, 5+ years of plumbing experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing service and repair (leaks, fixtures, piping, drains, water heaters, shutoffs).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues in residential and multi-unit buildings.
• Complete preventative maintenance and general repairs (drywall, carpentry, minor electrical).
• Respond to work orders and service calls across multiple properties.
• Communicate with property managers, dispatch, and residents.
• Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes, safety standards, and company procedures.
• Document work completed, materials used, and time via work order system.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle (if applicable).
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours/emergency service.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing service and repair (leaks, fixtures, piping, drains, water heaters, shutoffs, etc.)
• Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues in residential and multi-unit buildings
• Complete preventative maintenance and general repairs (drywall, carpentry, minor electrical, etc.)
• Respond to work orders and service calls across multiple properties
• Communicate with property managers, dispatch, and residents regarding scope and updates
• Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes, safety standards, and company procedures
• Document work completed, materials used, and time via work order system
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle (if applicable)
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours/emergency service

What You’ll Need

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of plumbing, maintenance technician, or handyman experience
• Experience with service-based plumbing (not just new construction)
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently in the field
• Experience with drain cleaning, water heater service, and plumbing fixture repair or installation
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly (75–100 lbs occasionally)
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Basic understanding of plumbing systems, codes, and best practices
• English proficiency
• Eligibility to work in the United States
• Availability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule that alternates every week
• If you do not hold a Chicago Plumbing License or apprentice status, 5+ years of plumbing experience is required

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Chicago Plumbing License or Apprentice experience
• Experience working in residential, apartment, condo, or HOA environments
• Sewer work experience
• Multi-trade experience (electrical, HVAC basics, carpentry)
• Experience using work order / dispatch software

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: $50-$60/hour
