Plumber/Steampipe Fitter

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital / Norfolk, Virginia (On‑site position)

The Plumber/Steampipe Fitter inspects and repairs pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures related to the heating, water, gas, and drainage systems. Also responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of medical air and suction systems, medical gases distribution, piping, terminal connections, and maintenance and repair of heating and cooling hydronic systems.

High School Grade or equivalent required. Four years of relevant experience or 240 hours of vocational training required. Journeyman Plumber licensure must be obtained within 90 days (or less) from date of hire.

Depending on location, the facility may require MLB upon hire. Some sites require individuals to obtain Anti‑Backflow certification within one year of employment; MPLB preferred.

Education

• High School Diploma/equivalent or trade school.

Certification / Licensure

• Journeyman Plumber license required; must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not already held.

Experience

• Four years of relevant experience, or 240 hours of vocational training.

Position is "Mission Essential" personnel.

Facilities employee must be within ½ hour return to SNGH.

Rotating schedule, weekends and on‑call required.
