University Hospital in Newark, NJ is seeking a Sr Plumber/Steamfitter to lead plumbing system work, including steam fixtures and related equipment. You will oversee repairs, installations and preventive maintenance, ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards.

The role requires a technical diploma and 5+ years in plumbing within healthcare or related settings; NJ Black Seal license is preferred and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Technical school diploma or equivalent plus five years in operation, maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems/equipment.
• Strong knowledge of blueprint/schematic reading and codes (local/state/national).
• Ability to communicate effectively and work overtime as needed.
• New Jersey Black Seal Engineer’s License is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, repair, and install pipe systems, plumbing fixtures, heating and steam fixtures/equipment.
• Respond to plumbing trouble calls using hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance and inspections on plumbing systems.
• Install and maintain water, gas, oil, waste disposal, high-pressure steam and hot water systems.
• Prepare and submit material requisitions and work orders to the Supervisor, Maintenance and Construction.

About the Role

The Sr Plumber/Steamfitt l position is to take the lead in performing a variety of maintenance repairs and installation/replacement of plumbing systems and fixtures including supply systems, DWV system, plumbing, heating, and steam fixtures/equipment. Assists in the work direction of other mechanics, trades helpers and mechanics of other skilled trades.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Operates, maintains, repairs, and installs pipe systems, plumbing fixtures, heating fixtures, steam fixtures, regulator valves and various system elements/appliances.
• Responds to plumbing trouble calls and requests within the facilities, using hand tools, pneumatic and/or hydraulic power tools, analyzing equipment and testing instruments.
• Performs routine maintenance, preventive maintenance and inspections on plumbing systems equipment and related equipment/systems.
• Installs, repairs and/or maintains water, gas, oil, waste disposal and high-pressure steam and high-temperature hot water.
• Prepares, maintains, and submits to the Supervisor, Maintenance and Construction requisitions for material, work orders, required records and reports relating to plumbing equipment/systems.

• Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Must be able to work overtime.

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is OH/2100 - $32.12/hr - $32.62/hr -$33.60/hr. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs.The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
