Job summary

North Slope Borough seeks a licensed plumber to assemble, install, maintain and repair pipes, fixtures and systems in NSB facilities and approved residences in accordance with plumbing codes.

Preferred candidates hold Alaska Plumber Certification, a valid Alaska Driver’s License, and at least two years of plumbing maintenance experience; occasional travel to NSB villages is required to perform services and inspections, under Borough policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED, or 12 years of education with related work experience.
• Two years of plumbing maintenance experience.
• State of Alaska Plumber Certification or License required.
• Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.

Responsibilities

• Locate and repair plumbing problems in NSB and approved residential buildings in accordance with mechanical and plumbing codes.
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures.
• Monitor pressure gauges while filling pipe system with water or air to determine whether system's leaking.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on NSB facilities and residential buildings.
• Periodical duties such as carpentry and basic maintenance.
• Travel to and work within NSB villages to perform services as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
