The University of Texas at Dallas seeks a Journeyman Plumber in Richardson to install and repair plumbing systems in new construction or remodels, with capabilities in basic electrical maintenance related to plumbing equipment. Job Summary

To provide journeyman level skill in the installation and review of all types of plumbing systems; provide skills in the area of plumbing, electrical maintenance/repair to plumbing equipment; responsible for performing tasks in a specific area. Install and repair all plumbing in new construction or remodeling. Frequently responsible for the training and oversight of less skilled workers. Maintains a flexible work schedule including being on-call for occasional nights and weekends.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.


• Journeyman plumber license in the State of Texas.


• 3-5 years of related experience.


• Must have a valid Texas Driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Vocational/Technical Diploma


• Some College/Associate's Degree in related field


• TCEQ Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester


• OSHA 10-Hour Training

Other Qualifications

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs service calls and work orders submitted by departments within the University, work could be performed off ladders, roof tops, or scaffolding. Performs preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems. Oversees training of less skilled workers while performing tasks.


• Troubleshoots plumbing system problems following detailed operational and maintenance procedures of existing and new plumbing systems installations.


• Surveys buildings and performs maintenance on equipment in a multi-trade working environment. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Perform all work in accordance with best safety management practices.


• Maintains records and prepares reports on repairs and services according to university and regulatory requirements. Works from written and verbal instructions. Other duties as assigned.


• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.

Work Notice: Work will be performed on site and in-person. May be required to report to on-site work location during campus closure. May be required to report to on-site work location during inclement weather.
