Job summary

Vanderbilt Health in Nashville, TN is seeking a Journeyman Plumber to perform skilled plumbing work, including installation, operation, maintenance and repair of systems, equipment and fixtures within the Plumbing Shop scope.

The role requires adherence to hospital policies, safety practices, and ability to work under supervision or independently while expanding knowledge. Minimum 3 years experience and a high school diploma or GED are required, with a comprehensive benefits package offered.

  • Installation, operation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, equipment and fixtures within the Plumbing Shop scope.
  • Service of fixtures and equipment including domestic water systems, backflow preventers, water heaters, pumps, piping, valves, and related components.
  • Maintain fire protection, gas piping and clinical/laboratory gas systems per safety standards.
  • Follow instructions, work under supervision or independently, and continuously expand knowledge base.
  • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Job Summary

Performs skilled Plumbing work at the Journeyman level, including installation, operation, maintenance and repair associated with systems, equipment and building fixtures within the scope of services provided by the Plumbing Shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commitment to VUMC Credo
  • Adhere to Medical Center and Department policies and procedures
  • Installation, operation, maintenance and repair of all aspects of the systems, equipment, and fixtures included in the Plumbing Shop scope of services, including but not limited to: domestic water system to include but not limited to backflow preventers, domestic water pumps, booster pumps, circulating pumps, water heaters and water coolers, emergency water supply stations, water meters, distribution piping, valves, etc.
  • Equipment and fixtures serviced by the Plumbing Shop to include but not limited to dishwashing equipment, sewage ejection pumps, water fountains, acid neutralization tanks, aquariums, plaster traps, grease traps, emergency wet vacuums, sinks of all types, faucets, water closets, showers, sump pumps, safety showers, eye wash stations, decontamination showers, food interceptors, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • Fire protection system to include fire pumps, distribution piping, valves, sprinkler heads, etc.
  • Clinical and Laboratory gas piping systems. Natural gas distribution system.
  • Follow instructions, work under supervision and independently, demonstrate an eagerness to learn and expand knowledge base and skill set.
  • Employ safe work practices.
