Job description

As a Master Plumber at Smugglers’ Notch Resort, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing plumbing and heating systems. This role also includes maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, and physical structures to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Inspect structures to identify potential obstructions and prevent weakening during pipe installations; assess system leaks.
  • Maintain a well-organized inventory of plumbing parts and supplies.
  • Accurately locate and mark positions for pipes, pipe connections, and passage holes; cut necessary openings in walls and floors.
  • Cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install valves, pipe fittings, and piping systems.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, garbage disposals, dishwashers, and water softeners to industry standards.
  • Monitor heating system performance by checking pressure gauges, oil levels, leaks, and operating temperatures; ensure proper operation of backup pumps, burners, and valves.
  • Thaw frozen pipes using pipe thawing equipment to prevent bursts.
  • Train team members on plumbing techniques and stay updated on new products and technologies.
  • Document job completion times, materials used, and statuses for accurate record-keeping.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, including grinders, drills, and jigs, as necessary.
  • Address guest inquiries and feedback with professionalism.
  • Adhere to company policies and all applicable State and Federal regulations regarding hazardous materials and waste.
  • Follow departmental safety protocols and practices.

Note: Skiing and use of recreational facilities are not part of this position's responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid VT State Master Plumber License is required.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations made for individuals with disabilities as needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and ability related to plumbing systems and maintenance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, as well as a current Master Plumbing License from the State of Vermont.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
