Job summary

Iredell Health System in Statesville, NC seeks a Plumber's Assistant to support repairs, installations, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of hospital plumbing systems. The role covers building maintenance of facilities and grounds, including minor equipment repairs as directed.

Applicants should have at least one year of plumbing experience, strong maintenance skills, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds. The shift is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred and general maintenance abilities.
• One year of plumbing experience or related field experience.
• Familiar with building maintenance techniques, heating/refrigeration and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of fire and safety regulations and procedures.
• Able to determine when to call outside technicians for repair needs.
• Must pass basic fitness test and be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Plumber with repairs, installations, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of plumbing systems.
• Assist with general maintenance of buildings and grounds; perform minor equipment repairs as instructed.
• No access to patient health information; may access medication storage areas related to responsibilities.

Job description

Duties include assisting the Plumber with repairs, installations, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of the various plumbing systems within the hospital. The Plumber's Assistant will assist with general maintenance of the buildings and grounds; the Plumber's Assistant will make minor repairs on equipment when instructed to do so. Has no access to patient health information. May have access to medication storage areas (excluding controlled substances) as related to job responsibilities.

Shift: M-F, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, plus call

Requirements

• High School diploma preferred and general maintenance abilities.
• High School vocational training beyond high school is recommended.
• Must have one year of plumbing experience or work experience in related fields.
• Must be familiar with building maintenance techniques, equipment and operation of heating systems, refrigeration, associated electrical systems, fire and safety regulations and procedures.
• Must be able to determine when to call in outside technicians who can assist in the repair of malfunctioning equipment.
• Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time.
