Job summary

Summa Health Akron City Campus is seeking a maintenance technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment and components related to the water, sewer, and steam utility distribution system. The role provides support and trains other skilled trade personnel, and requires strong problem-solving and blueprint-reading abilities.

• High school coursework in grammar, composition, and mathematics.
• Two years experience in high pressure steam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains equipment/components related to the water, sewer, and steam utility distribution system.
• Provides support and trains other skilled trade personnel engaged in maintenance activities.
• Works from blueprints and drawings.
• Maintains fire doors and barriers in accordance with regulatory agencies.
• Communicates with healthcare professionals, engineers, contractors and staff.

Summary

Troubleshoots, repairs, and performs maintenance on all types of equipment/components related to the water, sewer, and steam utility distribution system. Provides support and assistance, as appropriate, and trains other skilled trade personnel engaged in maintenance activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education Required:
• Two (2) years plumbing trade school

OR

• High school level course in grammar, composition and mathematics
• Two (2) years experience in high pressure steam preferred
• Experience & Training Required:
• Two (2) years plumbing experience in a large institution, commercial facility or service company
• Two (2) years experience in high pressure steam preferred.
• Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
• Ability to plan, prioritize workload and effectively resolve problems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, engineers, contractors and staff.
• Ability to analyze data, diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems and equipment.
• Ability to maintain fire doors and barriers in accordance with regulatory agencies.
• Ability to work from blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to demonstrate behaviors consistent with the customer service policy.
• Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
• Level of Physical Demands:
• Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
