Job Responsibilities
  1. Assumes responsibility for maintaining the total hydrology, steam, gas, and sewerage distribution systems throughout the company's facilities, including preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting, utilizing specialized test equipment and hand/power tools.
  2. Performs a variety of repair and installation duties related to plumbing systems such as water, sewer, steam, air, medical gas, vacuum, and fire protection.
  3. Assists outside contractors with plumbing system outages during major utility repairs and/or new construction.
  4. Supports troubleshooting and repairing equipment related to the facility infrastructure.
  5. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  6. Remains knowledgeable on current laws and standards, and reports any unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct.
Qualifications

Education

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Trade school training in Plumbing or Pipe Fitting

Work Experience

  • Required: 2 years of Commercial or Industrial experience, including reading specifications and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings; ability to work independently

Certifications

  • Required: Current Louisiana State Journeymen Plumbers License
  • Preferred: Medical Gas and Back-Flow Certification

Other Requirements

  • Trade school training in plumbing or pipe fitting

Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium work - exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, with physical demands exceeding sedentary work. Work involves standing, walking, and working in confined spaces, with exposure to healthcare environment risks.

Additional Information

Must be able to work 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Must be willing to work extended hours and respond to emergencies. The role involves exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, with appropriate safety measures in place.
