Overview

Georgetown University comprises two unique campuses in the nation’s capital. This position is located at the Capitol Campus, 37th & O St NW Washington, DC 20057.

Position Details

Position: # P104584
Full-time: 40 hours
Pay: $33.62/hr
Location: 37th & O St NW Washington, DC 20057

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all standard plumbing, heating, and hot water systems, including low, medium, and high pressure steam lines.
  • Perform journey level maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry and trade practices.
  • Provide daily maintenance support to building users, including responding to service calls and scheduled preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled or special work such as overhauls, replacements of all types of pumps, valves (water and steam), and piping system replacements.
  • Manage survey projects and maintain on‑call status 24 hours a day to respond to emergency calls.
  • Use all standard tools, equipment, materials, and supplies of the trade and observe all safety rules, regulations, and precautions.
Work Interactions

This position reports directly to the Mechanical Shop Supervisor and works with other plumbers, HVAC mechanics, and trades helpers to provide direct service to the department and ensure a comfortable, safe, and clean environment for the university community.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four to five years of related experience in the trade or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications
  • Must have a Journeyman card.
  • Must have a valid operator’s license.
  • Requires completion of apprenticeship or equivalent training in the plumbing trade.
Vehicle Operation

Incumbent may be required to operate University commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10K+ (e.g., tow trucks, box trucks, trash trucks, buses, lifts). The incumbent must possess a medical card and/or certificate issued by the Department of Transportation after completion of a DOT physical examination.

Work Mode Designation

On‑Campus. Work mode designations may be reviewed and changed as needed.
