Job summary

Lehigh Valley Hospital, Inc. is seeking a skilled Plumber to install, maintain and repair water, sewer, steam and gas systems across our facilities.

You will read blueprints, perform inspections and respond to emergency calls, with CMMS documentation and teamwork with other trades. This is a full-time day-shift position in a hospital environment, with on-call rotation and opportunities to contribute to safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; plumbing tech diploma helpful.
  • 3 years experience as a plumber in commercial/industrial settings or less than 1 year with a tech diploma.
  • Ability to read drawings/figures for water supply, waste and venting layouts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and skill with hand/power tools.
  • Ability to reason through problems and select best repair solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints and specifications to understand the building's pipe layout.
  • Maintain/repair piping, valves, fixtures, drainage, steam, and gas systems.
  • Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance per codes and standards.
  • Respond to trouble calls and emergency situations; coordinate with other trades as needed.
  • Document work using CMMS and manage inventory for repairs.

Performs inspections, testing and preventative maintenance of water, sewer, fire suppression, steam and gas systems. Provides general facility maintenance. **Job Duties*** Analyzes blueprints and specifications in order to understand the existing building's layout of pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing systems.* Provides maintenance and repair of piping, valves, fixtures, drainage systems, steam, and gas systems.* Performs inspections, testing and preventative maintenance of water, sewer, fire suppression, steam and gas systems, ensuring compliance with state, local codes and Joint Commission standards.* Responds to trouble calls, work requests and emergency situations.* Performs minor maintenance of electrical, mechanical equipment, HVAC, systems, structures and other general maintenance.* Assists department colleagues of all trades.* Utilizes the CMMS work order system and documents time and work completed, all in a timely manner.* Maintains inventory and acquires parts as needed to perform repairs. **Minimum Qualifications*** High School Diploma/GED with required years of experience or* Technical School Diploma in Plumbing or related trade.* 3 years experience as a plumber in commercial or industrial setting or* Less than 1 year with Technical School Diploma.* Ability to read drawings and figures to understand the layout of water supply, waste, and venting systems.* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.* Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.* Skill in using hand and power tools and machines to measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes.* Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. **Additional Qualifications** **Physical Demands** Lift over 50 lbs.
